I love a good horror story.
That feeling of impending dread, building suspense, and the scary pay-off is something that gets my endorphins going and my head buzzing.
I like to think back to the origins of storytelling, of people sitting around campfires and relaying their stories.
Surely this is the origin of the scary story as well.
John Carpenter (writer, filmmaker, composer, all around cool guy) talks about the two kinds of campfire story that can be told:
First: That the evil is out there, in the woods, coming from the outside.
Second: That the evil is here, by this fire, right here with us...
